Jim Rhoden – “Pay your civic rent!”
At age 80, Jim Rhoden continues to go into his office every day and continues to fulfill his father’s life-lesson of “Pay your civic rent.” I found his perspective on delivering community service to be one that is both simple and profound. Key components of his approach include:
- Pay your civic rent!
- Business and community service are inextricably intertwined
- “Give everybody that asks you for something, something!”
- Small, steady, quiet, relentless community service over a long span of years has a huge impact
Jim and I discussed those principles and more as well the legacy of which he is most proud – the Cobb Community Foundation.
